Dua pesakit kehilangan hampir 2 liter darah akibat pendarahan gastrousus atas dan berada dalam keadaan kritikal menyediakan lebih daripada 60 beg darah untuk mengekalkan kehidupan mereka. Pada masa ini, hospital memerlukan kira-kira 80 beg darah setiap hari, dan permintaan untuk darah jenis O amat mendesak, tetapi inventori hampir dengan garis amaran.
